Sleevenotes:

Michael O'Keefe must win the scholarship awarded by Bushwood Golf Club to the season's best caddy. On the exclusive greens hindering and helping him are funnymen Chevy Chase and Rodney Dangerfield. But while they score the holes in one, he only scores with the girls in the 'Fore!' play comedy with balls.

Review:
Chevy Chase receives top billing in this comedy and is genuinely hysterical in each of his scenes but sadly there aren't enough of them. The film revolves around Michael O'Keefe's character and is over-awed by the character Al Czervik, played by Rodney Dangerfield with a license to do as he pleases. Caddyshack really launched the career of Bill Murray and his character Carl Spackler, has become a cult favourite although I actually found him to be a mumbling interference. However, Ted Knight gives the film a solid spine as it is really a low budget seat-of-the-pants job, and the film is rightly considered to be one of the funniest of the Eighties. Some lines are pure brilliance and still often quoted at golf clubs everywhere but too many of the scenes are little too 'Porkies' like (the sexy female character is named 'Lacey Underalls') and give the film a dated look today. The soundtrack (mainly Kenny Loggins) is brilliant though.

Funniest scenes:
"Be the ball" - Ty Webb gives a lesson in golf.

Ty Webb playing with his zipper as he enters the golf club dinner dance.

Ty Webb urinating in the bunker.

Caddy Day at the swimming pool: Lacey Underall's entrance. The caddies synchronised swimming. And yes, that chocolate bar moment.

Ty Webb serenades Lacey Underalls - "I was born to love you..."

Judge Smails catching Danny Noonan and Lacey Underalls in his bed and chasing him with a golf club.

Ty Webb playing through Carl's place. I'm guessing there was a complete disregard for the script here. Genius.

Top lines:
Ty Webb: "Oh Danny, this isn't Russia. Is this Russia? This isn't Russia is it?"

Judge Smails: "You should play with Dr. Beeper and myself. He's been club champion three years running and I'm no slouch myself."
Ty Webb: "Don't sell yourself short Judge - you're a tremendous slouch."

Danny Noonan: "Unbelievable."
Ty Webb: "Thankyou very little."

Lacey Underalls: "My uncle says you've got a screw loose."
Ty Webb: "Yeah well, your uncle molests collies."

Dr. Beeper: "Oh Webb oh man - I didn't see your name on the sign-in sheet for the club tournament. I thought you'd be the man to beat this year."
Ty Webb: "Guess you'll just have to keep beating yourself."

Al Czervik: "I don't understand it. I'm playing the worse game of my life!"
Ty Webb: "Hey don't put yourself down Al. You're not er... You're not good. You stink."

Danny Noonan: "Ty, I saw Smails before - he was cheating."
Ty Webb: "Nobody likes a tell-tale Danny. Except of course, me."

Ty Webb: "Me winning isn't. You do."
